Since September 2007, Freemantles has been operating as a full 4–19 school on a new site in Mayford, just south of Woking, in new purpose-designed buildings equipped with the latest technology and equipment.
The school is laid out as an “H”, with two parallel wings – one for the primary school, housing Years 1 to 6, and one for the secondary school, housing Years 7 to 12 – connected by a common central corridor.
Each school has its own sensory and soft-play rooms as well as two external play spaces, with quiet-play areas, and there is also an all-weather sports pitch, which doubles as extra play space for older pupils, and a hydrotherapy pool. Both the school building and its grounds are fully secure and a one-way roadway at the front of the building allows for all transport to drop off and collect pupils in total safety.
Now that the school is established on a site appropriate to its complement of pupils, it is planned gradually to raise the age of students attending to include a sixteen to nineteen unit, providing young people with the all-through education and life-skills training they need to fulfil their potential and lead a full life.
