Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and Secondary assemblies are held separately once a week. This is an opportunity for collective worship, for celebrating successes, and for performing.
Children are encouraged to take part in performances of music and drama regardless of their level of achievement, and confidence is built through the appreciation of these performances.

Assemblies are also a time for reflecting on the skills necessary to work happily as a community, and for the promotion of positive attitudes.

Special Assemblies are held for Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter, when parents and friends are invited to attend.

Residential trips play an important part in the PSHE curriculum. They give our children a tremendous opportunity to develop independence and, above all, they are fun! The school owns two caravans in Pagham, West Sussex, where all primary children are given the opportunity to have a short holiday in the summer.

For older students there are opportunities to be even more adventurous. Each September, a group of children spend a weekend camping with Scouts and Guides at the beautiful and well-equipped Woodlarks site near Farnham in Surrey, where they undertake a wide range of exciting and challenging activities, such as abseiling, shooting, archery, outdoor cooking, and bungee-running. In addition school organises residential trips to specialised outdoor education centres.

Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to have a water sports trip to Chichester Harbour, where they stay on a converted minesweeper and take part in canoeing, sailing, raft-building and power-boating.

We also join other Surrey special schools for an annual ski trip early each year to a resort in Europe, which gives our children the experience of going abroad, as well as the challenge of skiing.

Each group has a weekly outing into the community. Every outing has a specific learning aim, which will definitely embrace PSHE, but may also be focused on geography, history or science. There are also special outings, such as day trips to the Science or Natural History Museums in London, and the annual Kids Out day which is sponsored by the Rotary Club.
