Governance
The Governing Body oversees the strategic development of the school and focuses on three core functions:
a) Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
b) Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
c) Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
In total the Governing Body consists of 13 members; 1 Local Authority Governor, 1 Staff Governor plus the Executive Headteacher, 4 Parent Governors and 6 Co-opted Governors. Each governor has a different skill set to offer. The Full Governing Body meets four times per year and individual governors also visit school frequently to ensure that they know the school well and are able to monitor progress against the Freemantles Development Plan. There are 2 main committees within the Governing Body: Curriculum, Learning, Emotional Wellbeing & Standards Committee (CLEWS) and Finance & Resources (includes Pay Sub Committee and Pay Appeals Panel). Committees meet twice per term.

Our Chair of Governors is Mrs Bethan Emerson. Governors can be contacted through the school office and consulted on any matter that concerns the Governing Body as a whole.
