Due to congestion on the roads and a number of incidents already this morning, school is CLOSED to students and staff today. We will keep you updated on the website and by text. Please stay warm and safe.

Delegates booked on the Outreach Autism Demand Avoidance Workshop: the training is CANCELLED today. We will be in touch about a plan to reschedule.

Update 9.35am:

We would like to give parents and visitors advance notice that the school will remain closed for the next two days - Thursday and Friday. This is as a result of the forecast for continuing sub-freezing temperatures, additional snowfall and the gridlock and difficulties that these conditions cause on Surrey roads, when we have such a large catchment area.

We have taken the decision that pupils and staff would be likely to find it difficult, lengthy and dangerous to get into school in these conditions and therefore believe that our decision is in the best interests of all concerned.

We do appreciate that this may cause parents difficulties and have not taken this decision lightly. There are a very large number of schools in both Surrey and Nationally, both mainstream and special, who have felt they needed to take the same decision.

Take care have a good weekend and we will look forward to seeing the students on Monday.

Update: 6.40am

There has been very varied snowfall over our catchment area overnight. Due to the temperatures this has fallen on to ice. The traffic and travel information available suggested that the roads had either not been salted or temperatures had been too low for the salt to be effective and there was significant congestion and incidents reported on the major roads by 6.30am.

We have had a lot of anxiety displayed by a number of children and young people during the last two days with the snow being so unpredictable, and a number of staff reported that the journey home last night was very long.

All of our transport has to travel on and off roads that has been treated and journeys that take longer tend to increase the anxiety levels of many of our children and young people. Therefore we have taken the decision that we need to close the school today. A yellow weather warning remains in place over Surrey and any further snowfall is likely to make things more hazardous.

Much of Surrey remains in the Yellow or moves to Amber warnings for Thursday and Friday but we will review the situation during the morning and update via text and email.
