Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Funding

Academic Year 18.19

All our Year 7 pupils attract a ‘catch up’ payment as they have not achieved age related norms at the end of primary education. This is 9 pupils.

In a special school for children and young people with complex social communication needs, our pupils are unlikely to reach such norms as even our most able had their early learning significantly delayed.

This cohort is highly individual and functioning at different levels, with spiky profiles. Our data indicates that they are performing at a consistently good level, which is commensurate with the whole school cohort and as an all through school the transition to secondary is usually smooth and uncomplicated.

The way in which we plan, as highlighted throughout the website, across the school is very individualised and aims to address any barriers to learning as they arise. This is a whole school approach that is relevant for all pupils. Therefore, the small amount of funding that this grant delivers is used to support additional provision.
